Sue Brandell
A Chinese blue delphinium for sale
started the conversation that eventually led to Sue's
employment at the farm, and 2006 will mark her third year
with Cherry Valley Organics. With her recent retirement
from 34 years of teaching math in the Peters Township
School District, she is excited to be able to devote more
time to the flowers. If not working in the flower beds,
Sue can be found teaching yoga at Three Rivers Yoga in
Coraopolis.
Her continuing interest in working at the farm stems from
a combination of her affinity for organic flower and vegetable
production, the pleasure of being part of a fledgling
business that she believes has great potential, and the
joy of working outdoors. |

Tom Feustel
A native of Pittsburgh and a resident of nearby Sturgeon,
Tom has worked in the IT department at Fisher Scientific
for five years. His
conversations with a number of Fisher employees who are
CSA members piqued his interest in Cherry Valley Organics,
and he joined the 2006 crew shortly thereafter.
Tom has prepared food at various restaurants
for more than fifteen years, and is interested in healthy
eating and healthy living in all of its
aspects. Also, with his background in business management,
he is particularly interested in the Cherry Valley Organics
business model.
In his spare time, Tom is working toward a bachelor's degree in computer science from
Point Park College in Pittsburgh.

Dana Swoager
Dana joined the 2006 crew at Cherry Valley Organics due
to her ongoing interest in gardening, as well as her desire to expand
her horticultural knowledge, particularly with regard to herbs.
Dana has been interested in chemical-free gardening since
she was a child, working with her father in his garden.
She currently grows a variety of vegetables and herbs
in her own garden, and would someday like to work full-time
in the horticultural field.
A resident of nearby Joffre, Dana is a
native of the area, and keeps busy
raising her four girls (including a set of twins).
In her spare time, Dana also works part-time as a substitute
aide with a local Head Start program, which provides comprehensive
education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services
to low-income children and their families. |
