Cherry Valley Community Farm, a certified-organic
producer of cut flowers, berries, herbs, and vegetables,
is located in Cherry Valley (near Burgettstown), Washington
County, Pennsylvania, and is owned and operated by Jodi
and Evan Verbanic.
We launched our Community-Supported
Agriculture program (formerly known as Urban Roots
CSA) at our house in the Pittsburgh suburb of Crafton
Borough in 2002, and expanded onto our current 35-acre
farm in 2004.
In contrast to the traditional produce CSA model, we offer an online "a
la carte" menu from which our subscribers order each week. We also offer
a flower bouquet CSA for weekly, biweekly, or monthly subscribers. And,
we have partnered with fellow local producers to offer their
naturally-raised beef, chicken, pork, and eggs to our subscribers.
Apart from the CSA facet of our operation, we sell our products directly
to restaurants, florists, and specialty food stores, as well as at select
farmers' markets in the Pittsburgh area.
In 2006, in addition to our certified
organic operation, we launched a
line of hand-made herbal personal care products, including
bar soap, lip
balm, hand salve, fragrance spray, and bath oil.
